First week in California

New P-days are Monday! Which means new favorite day of the week for us!

Ann Marie said her first week in the field was hard. But the good news is, her mission pres. is excellent! Two thumbs up. She said when she got there she went into his office for an interview and started crying uncontrollably. So President Bunker handed her a box a tissues and read the scriptures with her.

"But then we read in Nephi together. The part after Lehi dies, and Nephi is so sad. Nephi! He was a prophet, he had had visions and communicated with Heavenly Father and he still felt pain and sadness. We read about the Atonement, Christ too felt alone and lost. After reading those two chapters I just felt so much peace. I may be far away from home, but I'm not alone. Christ is right there with me and he knows how it sucks to tract and get the door slammed in your face and he knows homesickness. Remembering and relying on that is really what has carried me through this week. I know I'm supposed to be here, but it is definitely hard!"

But she said that she's doing a lot better. She got her companion, Sister Erlebach. And they're over the Redwood YSA ward. She said it's hard because usually they have to refer their investigators over to the elders in the family ward when they do find someone to teach. But the cool news is that she's in the Santa Rosa stake. Which is where Aunt Kris and Greg lived.

They're teaching a man named Andrew, who is be prepared to be baptized on cinco de mayo. And while tracting they met an investigator, Kyle, who went to conference with them. She says he's not there yet but they're gonna keep working with him.

She sounds great. Her favorite talks were President Uchtdorf''s, Elder Holland's and Elder Anderson's. What were yours? Write and tell her!
